There is much to say about the new generation of eco-friendly, baby-boomers "who refuse retirement solutions that keep them there in abundance. Many had to live in the cities that created their jobs ... with smog and crime. The years have passed, children were protected as much as possible in closed communities and the day arrived to take a look at "what's coming."
The idea of traveling that facinated their parents has less appeal to us baby boomers. Cruise ship horror stories, and the risks have become part of travel that has taken the shine off what their parents were very satisfied with. In addition, many have traveled extensively in their work and have had expensive holidays in faraway places with strange sounding names anyway.
Freedom does not event have thew attraction it had for previous generations. Many baby boomers have been linked with web-based businesses and were able to work from home from time to time, at their own pace. This usually means several hours for most of them, but more personal freedom was avilable.
Therefore, this new generation wants to get out of Dodge and work with their hands. It is true that they do not want to be looked after or sit around the fire, they want the challenges that match their ideals.
Peace and quiet are high on the list of priorities of many baby boomers. living more simply is calling. "zero footprint" is a phrase most of us were unfamiliar with a decade ago. If we had heard it, it was with disgust that have considered living without being connected to a reliable source of energy. However, todays and future retirees are often very interested in solar panels and batteries. Conservation and personal independence rank high.
In addition, unique designs for houses that circumvent the need for heating and air conditioning are coming to the fore. The strawbale house is a living miracle. The thick walls of straw bales have a dry "skin."I recently viewed one that was plastered with a mixture of mud and cement Adobe. Contractors and architects are on the bandwagon as this trend spreads. Books and seminars on strawbale building are in high demand.
And then there are the land ships. These are energy-efficient homes dug into the hillside and constructed with care to offer shelter without messing with the environment. I went to one that seemed to be incredibly welcoming.
Our Baby Boomers want a new type of challenge and most of them are getting into organic gardening, another science that offers them simplicity and increased well-being. They want to grow what they eat . There is usually plenty of room to do so because they are buying land. This movement towards healthy living is not a fad, but what they want for the future. They are willing to work long and hard.
You find in their homes, battery, laptops! After all, life must go on! The baby boomers ensure that things that are important to the heart are included. It has never been about denial. In the absence of a better description, I would say that their ethical development is "to create a simple life."
If you have the opportunity to read about this movement and / or have the opportunity to visit someone who is immersed in it, not pass it up. Rome is being rebuilt again.

Powerful solar energy a renewable resource that comes from the sun, is a huge trend is catching on, and provides us with electricity. This clean energy is catching on quickly as it is safe for our environment. Unlike fossil fuels, we do not need to burn gas and pollute the air creating acid rain. Solar is getting cheaper for homes and businesses. Companies supply and install solar panels at very reasonable prices, saving money and providing seamless continuity of infinite power. Although not yet contributing to the normal hazards of our environment, pollution, solar technology is the key to start a new beginning, to protect the atmosphere.

Regardless of your opinion on climate change the depletion of natural resources is a threat to the human race! The amount of oil buried deep beneath the Earth’s surface will not last forever and we need to find some sustainable, long term renewable sources of energy. Solar power is a versatile and renewable source of energy derived from the sun. This energy can be harvested and converted into heat or electricity using solar power panels to capture the valuable energy we get from the sun and turn it into a usable form.
We can use solar energy in two ways namely, through photoelectric applications and solar thermal applications. In photoelectric applications, photovoltaic (PV) cells are used to convert the energy of the sun into electricity with the use of semi-conductors which are similar to silicon. In solar thermal applications the energy from sun is used to provide direct heat for air and liquid use. For example it could be used to provide a source of hot water in your home, which in turn can be used for washing and cleaning. In some cases the hot water could be used purely as a source of heat.
It is a clean, pollution free form of power and a good alternative to the use of non- renewable resources such as coal, oil or gas. These are all fossil fuels buried deep beneath the Earth’s surface and we release huge amounts of green house gases into the atmosphere by burning them to generate power. Commercial and academic organisations throughout the world are conducting research into new and innovative applications for solar power. Obviously the amount of sun you receive has a bearing on just how beneficial solar energy can be to you. A sunny location like California is perfect to take advantage of solar energy and the Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating system currently being constructed there will have a capacity of over 390 MW (Mega Watts) when completed.
The UK does not have the same resources as California when it comes to sun
, however plans to build a 5 MW solar farm in Cornwall have recently been announced. It is clear solar power can be utilised to varying degrees depending on location and conditions although it is important to remember that it is a part of the renewable energy solution and not a complete solution in itself. Other forms of renewable energy need to be used in conjunction with solar power to form a stable and sustainable supply.
